Potlikker Film Fest NYC

In conjunction with this weekend's Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, Hill Country Barbecue Market will host the Potlikker Film Fest NYC . There will be three short documentaries (including the premiere of Cut/Chop/Cook, an homage to the Scott family of pitmasters from Hemingway, South Carolina.) and enjoy Southern snacks. Big Apple Barbecue Block Party

Chef's Tribute Benefit

For one of the biggest food events of the year, more than 40 legendary chefs from around the country will gather to honor James Beard at the 25th annual Citymeals-on-Wheels Chefs' Tribute fundraiser, "Silver Spoons: 25 Years of Chefs and Celebrations." (Beard was a Citymeals co-founder). The chefs will prepare a spectacular feast with some of their most beloved signature dishes. It may be expensive, but it will be epic. $600. Beer Sampling

This homebrew competition will be an opportunity to sample the 16 amateur brews, hosted by the Knights of Bruklyn Homebrewer Sentry. These amateurs are competing for the chance to brew a keg of their own beer at Sixpoint Craft Ales. Judges include experts from Sixpoint, Kelso of Brooklyn, and Brooklyn Brew Shop. Free.
