'City of Merchants' Fundraiser for New Amsterdam Market
We're so happy to hear that this summer will bring the return of New Amsterdam Market—a collection of farmers, chefs, and purveyors coming together for increasingly regular meetings at the South Street Seaport. Mastermind Robert LaValva and others have worked tirelessly to bring these markets together and rally support for what one day could be New York's first permanent indoor food market.
In advance of this year's market season, New Amsterdam will hold the City of Merchants fundraiser this May 22nd at the New York Marble Cemetery in the East Village. From 11:00am to 1:00pm, stop by to shop from a spread of wild botanicals curated by Nova Kim and Les Hook of Wild Gourmet Food, from amaranth tips to wild ginger root to watercress and artichokes; from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, enjoy a reception with refreshments from Marlow and Daughters, Saxelby Cheesemongers, DBA, The Bent Spoon, and more.
Market admission $5; fundraiser tickets start at $25; available here.
