While browsing the smoked salmon selection at The Lobster Place the other evening, I came across something I didn't expect to encounter at this seafood wonderland: dessert! It was tucked away in the freezer section, a duo of whoopie pies in two flavor options: Pumpkin and Chocolate Chip. These whoopie pies are from Cranberry Island Kitchen in Maine, and baked in the shape of little clam shells. They come two to a set for $3.95. The Pumpkin clamshells, gently spiced but a touch too sweet, sandwich a fluffy cream cheese filling that's heavy on the vanilla. Fun and cute, though there are better whoopie pies in our city.
