The new and expanded Il Laboratorio del Gelato hasn't opened just yet, but that doesn't stop me from returning over and over again to their take-out stand on Orchard Street. Kudos to the gelateria for not raising their prices in the last few years—it's still $3.25 for a small, two flavors to a cup or cone. Some of the cheapest, and some of the best, in town. My favorite pairing of the moment? Their fruity, seed-speckled strawberry gelato topped off a boozy and utterly refreshingly champagne sorbet. A memorable combination that brings out the best of both of flavors, and gives you a whirl at both their sorbet and gelato.
