First Look: People's Pops in Chelsea Market

People's Pops officially opened in the Chelsea Market this morning, just in time for the start of warm weather. Located near the 15th Street entrance of the market, in the same area as Jacques Torres, Lucy's Whey, and Lucky Duck, it's more of a stand than an actual shop—and get this, the entire counter is constructed out of popsicle sticks. The best part? They're giving away free shave ice and popsicles all day till they run out.
The menu? Two shave ice flavors ($2.50): Organic lemon and mint and Rhubarb. Five popsicle flavors ($3.50): Raspberry & Cream, Blackberry & Lemon Verbena, Rhubarb & Ginger, Rhubarb & Star Anise, and Blackberry & Sour Cherry. Expect the flavors to change on a weekly basis once they get settled.
Run, quick! I snagged a Raspberry & Cream popsicle, tart and refreshing, thankfully not too sweet, studded with raspberry seeds. There was a super short line when I showed up at noon—hope you're just as lucky!
