At Minamoto Kitchoan, it's called the Kazekaoru ($4), and it's a curious creature, that's for sure. At the center is long rod of yuzu mochi, supple, tasting richly of citrus on the tongue. The mochi is tucked deep within a layer of sweetened azuki bean paste, and then wrapped in a dense, crater-populated pancake. Petite, and packs a wealth of flavor, like most Japanese wagashi. A cup of hot tea to accompany is must.
