Sugar Rush: Vietnamese Coffee at RBC NYC
In Tribeca, La Colombe is my go-to coffee spot. But RBC NYC opened up yesterday, just two blocks south, and I can easily picture my coffee loyalty slipping in their direction. RBC's Slayer machine, the first of its kind in New York, is a glorious sight—intimidating, to say the least. Sandwiches are by Zabar's, pastries are from Bouchon Bakery, and Downtown Cookie Co. supplies all six of their cookie flavors.
The menu is brief and to the point, save for the Vietnamese Coffee ($4) which caught my attention. It's RBC's spin on the traditional ca phe su, sweetened condensed milk to line the bottom, a shot of the dark roast espresso, and full, velvety foam to top. There's a solid amount of seating, and unlike La Colombe, the seats here are actually comfortable.
