Often overlooked, and easily missed, Morakote Siam on Carmine has long been my go-to for casual dinners with friends—simple Thai food when I'm in the neighborhood. The warming Thai pumpkin custard ($4.50) is a reliable one to keep in your file for winter sweets. Clean, not too sweet, and softly studded with cuts of pumpkin, it's not one that will amaze, but one you can easily return to over and over again.
