Saturday, January 23 is National Pie Day, according to the charmingly self-promoting American Pie Council. Doesn't that steal the thunder from Pi Day, you may ask? Perhaps, but as far as we're concerned, the more holidays dedicated to pie, the better. (Tack on Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July, and we're already up to four!)

How do we plan to celebrate? It's hard to beat the pies from Two Little Red Hens, though it's equally hard to resist a slice of Bubby's sour cherry pie. Serious sugar addicts might head to Momofuku Milk Bar for the crack pie. In Brooklyn, we'd eat just about any pie from Trois Pommes or Sweet Melissa. Here are a few more of Ed's favorites.
