The cheery yellow Van Leeuwen trucks built their reputation on ice cream, but their coffee service has gotten a lot of attention, too—with Intelligentsia coffee and freshly baked muffins.

The morning I stopped by, I found a carrot currant muffin ($3.25) with appealingly chewy caramelized edges; a sweet, cider-spicy apple vanilla muffin ($3.25); and, the best of the bunch, a tiny hazelnut cake ($3.00)—less sugary, with a tender crumb and distinctively nutty bite. And don't even think of passing up a professionally steamed Intelligentsia cappuccino.
