We got the following email alerting us to a benefit being held for longtime Babbo waiter Jed McGiffin at 9 p.m. tomorrow at Otto. The details follow, after the jump. Jed has served thousands of serious eaters during his time at Babbo, including me on many occasions, so I can tell you this benefit is for a most worthy cause.

Early Saturday, December 19, Jed McGiffin, dear friend, colleague, and Front Waiter at Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca, was struck and catastrophically injured by a sanitation truck on his way home from work. His ability to pull through despite the extreme severity of his injuries is a testament to his strength and resilience. Please join us in honoring and supporting a good, kind, and beloved young man, who is truly a fighter.

B&B Hospitality Group is hosting a reception of snacks, drinks, and well wishes in support of our dear friend on Monday, January 4, from 9 p.m. at Otto. Suggested donation is $50 per person. All funds will go directly to Jed and his family to help support what will be a lengthy and extensive recovery. Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
