The Honey-Wheat Scone ($3) from Alice's Tea Cup receives significantly less attention that its counterparts, the fun and rotating flavors that include a splendid pumpkin-caramel, strawberry-banana, blueberry-cream cheese, and far too many more to name.

But it is this very plain, only mildly sweet scone that I eat most often—hearty, simple, to the point. I order one at the take-out counter, ("Warmed up, please") with a side of cream and jam. On nicer days, I'd take it to a park bench, but in this chill, I find myself hurrying to the warmth of my office desk with a cup of tea in hand.
