Sugar Rush: Banana Oatmeal Cake at Sweet Revenge

While walking down Carmine Street today, a sign out in front of Sweet Revenge called out to my morning sweet tooth. New menu item! Banana Oatmeal Cake! I quickly turned into the bakery and ordered one to go. The woman behind the counter offered to warm up my cake, to which I nodded an eager "yes." (Note: the cakes are warmed in the microwave...do not have it warmed unless you plan to consume right away. Otherwise the cake turns unpleasantly hard when it cools down.)

The cake was lovely when still warm, a sweet and light banana bread with an oatmeal streusel topping. It was much more sugary than I preferred, the base closer to a cupcake than your morning coffee cake. No worries, though—one cup of coffee, black, proved to be quite complementary.
