If you're in need of an afternoon pick-me-up, stop off for a stout cake at Stumptown Coffee. The little loaf, made by Frankies and also served at Café Pedlar, is a fine autumn snack. It's spicier than it is sweet, with strong notes of allspice and ginger, and light enough to polish off on your own. Almost as good as the macchiato you should follow it up with.
