Fall At Momofuku Milk Bar: Rice Pudding Pie (And Stuffing Soft-Serve)

No matter how often you stop by Momofuku Milk Bar, you'll rarely find quite the same menu twice. Blondie from Blondie and Brownie tries their Rice Pudding Pie: "With a gingersnap crust and topped with caramel apples, the pie felt in place for fall and was certainly delicious."
We'll take it over a few of Momofuku's newest soft-serve flavors, debuting tomorrow; fruit cobbler, okay, but stuffing? Yikes.

I almost got this the other day, and then ended up with the banana cake instead. Which was delicious, but this looks really interesting.

The rice pudding pie has been available for almost three weeks now. It took me a while to like this pie, but the gingersnap crust and caramel apple bits certainly won me over. I also appreciate the contrast in textures offered by the cooked rice grains mixed with the custard like pie filling, which is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. Really lovely dessert.

I had this pie, and sadly, it was the first thing I've had at Momofuku by which I've been underwhelmed. The apples were delicious. Although the crust tasted nice and gingery the texture was offputtingly mushy, and the filling was really bland - not a good proportion of custard to rice, and the rice was al dente. Looking forward to trying the new soft serve flavors, though.

Almost ordered the rice pudding pie last night but for some reason it just didn't sound tasty to me and my girl at the time...we opted for the chocolate chip cake instead. We also were curious about the stuffing soft serve so we tried it...and it was not pleasant. The girlfriend's face looked like she just swallowed vomit. I'll say one thing though, it really did taste like stuffing...which isn't necessarily a good thing.

I had this last night and was underwhelmed. my wife had the banana cake which was too much for her to finish and that was excellent, albeit a little too sweet for my tastes.
