Beekeeping is kind of like tattoos—once you get one, you're gonna want more, according to Eddie Diaz, the general manager of Roberta's pizzeria in Bushwick who doubles as an urban beekeeper with two of his buddies, Brandon Hoy (the owner of Roberta's) and Jon Feldman (general manager of Frankies Spuntino). The three are revving up for their first urban beekeeping harvest this month, expecting over 100 pounds of honey from the 250,000 bees they've been nursing on a Brooklyn rooftop since April.

Keeping the leg tattoos exposed, they skip the full body suits and netted face veils when they're in beekeeping mode. "One got stuck in my rattail and stung me," said Hoy, who is willing to take some pain for the good of the bees. Watch the three guys in action after the jump.
