When the weather gets this hot, the sort of sweets I crave come in liquid form. (Or at least meltable-to-liquid form). Shaved ice, milkshakes, lemonade, iced coffee—and, another one to add to this list, cups of chai from Lassi in the West Village.
This tiny nook of a restaurant might be known for its namesake yogurt drinks, but I'd recommend focusing your attention to the bottom half of the menu—where you'll find Lavender Masala Chai, served iced, of course. Lavender is a powerful player in the drink, and they don't go light on the fragrant herb; an excellent thing, in my opnion, though some might deem it overpowering and too perfume-esque. Like their lassi, the chai is barely sweetened—ideal when you crave flavor without the toothache.
