TGI Friday's and Tim Hortons Come To Union Square
In one more step toward the Midtown-ification of Union Square, restaurant management monolith the Riese Organization has purchased 34 Union Square East, unoccupied since now-foundering vegetarian chain Zen Palate moved out almost two years ago. Their intentions? "Tentative plans call for a TGI Friday’s and a Tim Hortons." Because nothing complements the revamped park and the city's most vibrant Greenmarket better than a big, corporate diner.
