Weekend Giveaway: 'Good Beer at BAM' Tickets

20090723-goodbeerbam.jpgEveryone should be drinking more beer this month. The mayor said so! In honor of July being "Good Beer Month," Edible Brooklyn is curating Good Beer at BAM, an event featuring suds from a dozen nearby breweries including Brooklyn Brewery, Sixpoint Craft Ales, Southampton Publick House, Allagash, Ommegang, Kelso of Brooklyn, Keeghan Ales and Sly Fox. Of course, there will also be beer-absorbing fare from Gramercy Tavern, Co., Porchetta, Sullivan Street Bakery, Schnitzel and Things, Bent Spoon, and many others. We have two pairs of tickets to share with all you fermented hops-appreciating Serious Eaters. To enter, just tell us your favorite microbrew.

The event is on Wednesday, July 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at BAM Café. If you don't win, you can still order tickets here. Or just crack open a beer and celebrate on your couch.

Comments here will close at 3 p.m. ET on Monday, July 27. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

even though many portland beer snobs consider it an overflavored mess, the beer i miss most from my time in oregon is mcmenamins hammerhead. there are definitely times i would pay too much to have a bottle in my fridge.

My favorite is Wisconsin Belgian Red from New Glarus Brewery. Sadly though, I don't get to have it often.

does bluepoint toasted count as a microbrew? well, that's my fave.

Now that I've moved to New York, I miss Lazy Magnolia's Indian Summer seasonal brew out of Mississippi.

Goose Island's Matilda

if blue points count as microbrews, their blueberry beer is pretty awesome.

Issaquah Brewery, White Frog Ale

Boulevard Wheat from Kansas City.

Butternuts Beer & Ale because who doesn't like a beer named Porkslap?

Victory's Prima Pils is my current beer of choice

Victory Brewing Company's Hop Devil Ale

left hand milk stout

Harpoon IPA :)

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

southern tier's creme brulee beer

rogue brewery, dead guy ale

Captain Lawrence pale ale

I know it's the summer, but Goose Island Bourbon Stout.

Dogfishead 90 Minute IPA. Yummm. It might be nearly 400 calories a beer, but it is delicious.

i second the dogfish head! yummm.

Ommegang, cave aged

Stating a "favorite microbrew" is nearly impossible, there is just so much great beer being brewed. But a contest is a contest and I'd love to attend the event at BAM so I'll supply a recent, and regional, beer that really impressed me: Ommegang Rouge. A terrific sour -- acidic, yet full of flavor, tart with a surprisingly balanced malt finish. A gem for sure.

Founders Breakfast Stout. DeeeIicious!

Cane & Ebel from Two Brothers. Although a close second is the Green Flash IPA.

Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye!

dogfish head 90 minute ipa

Favorite brewery hands down goes to Rogue in Oregon. Favorite single beer comes from Left Hand - their milk stout. They're out of Colorado.

I would have to say that Sixpoint Sweet-Action is one of the best locally crafted beers, hands down. It's got magnificent balance and a great hoppy flavor. It's a beer you can drink with food, by itself and either in Winter or Summer. I don't know what else you could want from a beer.

Elysian..specifically the Avatar Jasmine IPA

Midnight Sun Arctic Devil please

Love Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat in the summer!

Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Hands down. I've been an instructer of beer and pairing classes and I can't find a better beer that works great with a varitey of spicy foods, cheeses and fruity desserts or to just drink on its own...for endless hours. Larry Bell is a genius. Also, I just love the perfectly kitschy (& fishy) label.

Agree with Bell's, but Oberon.

Sixpoint Sweet Action

Berkshire Brewing Co.'s Coffee Haus Porter

Magic Hat Odd Notion Summer Ale w/ citrus, sour apple and grapefruit! Yummm summery.

This is a difficult choice... A new discovery that I love is Dogfish Head Midas Touch. I had it when I was down in NC so I don't even know if it's around here?

Weyerbacher Raspberry Imperial Stout. Awesome brew.

Allagash Odyssey may be as good a Belgian beer as can get made in these United States.

Harpoon, UFO

I'm a fan of Triumph in Princeton!

Allagash Odyssey is as close to Belgian beer as we can get in these United States.

Ithaca Apricot Wheat.

I know this is a new one, but its hard to find, and its become one of my new favorites- especially for the summertime - 21st Amendment - Hell or High Watermelon Wheat. Sooo good, with just a hint of watermelon-y goodness!

New Belgium outta Ft. Collins, CO!

Magic Hat Humble Patience. Cheers!

Abita Turbodog.

allagash white from portland, maine!

six point sweet action

So many great ones mentioned, but I think Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA will always get my attention.

Ohh, I second the Ithaca Apricot Wheat, although Sixpoint Sweet Action gets my vote for most drinkable.

six point sweet action.

Saranac Winter Wassail

Brooklyn Brewery Local 1

I love Hoegardden

I love the Nørrebro Bryghus King's County Brown Ale, a Danish beer inspired by Brooklyn's Nut Brown Ale. (It's better than the original.)

I'm also very partial to Bell's Oberon - a hearty summer ale.
