Sugar Rush: Ginger and Strawberry Ice Cream from Blue Marble

Although I've known about organic ice cream shop Blue Marble Ice Cream since last year, I didn't try it until last weekend. I blame the oversight on a deep seated preference for gelato, and that my favorite flavors are generally ones not found in most ice cream shops: black sesame and taro. To make my ice cream hunting ways look even more pathetic, I live fairly close to the store.

Maybe it's a good thing I only tried it recently; otherwise I would've stuffed myself with a lot more Blue Marble ice cream in the past year. There wasn't black sesame or taro, but they did have two of my other favorite flavors, ginger and strawberry. The strawberry wasn't like any other strawberry I had ever tried—a nice mixture of sweet and tart, although not too much of either—and ginger was mellow and a bit sweet. Both had a smooth, creamy texture. I also liked that they had the option of a mini-version so that ordering two scoops didn't result in ice cream coma like it would at Sundaes and Cones. I'll definitely be back for more.
