The kimchi quesadila you almost could have had.

Back in June when the West Coast-based Kogi team was in town for the Citymeals-on-Wheels fundraiser, the mobile kitchen's head chef Roy Choi said he'd launch here in a heartbeat. He envisioned opening in an unexpected neighborhood—somewhere in Brooklyn (like Carroll Gardens) or Queens. But those plans seem to be on hold. Midtown Lunch informs us that first season Top Chef alum Lee Anne Wong is no longer working as the East coast rep. She said “Kogi will be focusing on their West Coast operations” while she moves on to “some very exciting projects down the line.” It's a sad day for would-be kimchi quesadilla lovers.
