Win Tickets to Blue Point Brewing Company's 10th Anniversary in Long Island

20090609-bluepoint.jpgUsually ten-year-old birthdays are not outfitted with kegs, but this one is a special case. The Long Island-based Bluepoint Brewing Company is celebrating a decade of great microbrews this Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. Tickets are going for $65 each, which includes a tasting of the limited-edition 10th Anniversary IPA, eight drink tickets (yowzas!), a 14-ounce etched anniversary glass, and an afternoon of live music and the beer dunk tank.

We have two tickets to give away to a lucky serious eater (er, drinker). Just tell us your favorite craft beer and where it's from. We'll pick one commenter at random to win the pair of tickets.

Contest will end and comments will close at Noon ET, Friday, June 12, 2008. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

I'm not sure it's considered a craft beer but nothing beats Anchor Steam on draft.

the 312 from Goose Island in Chicago tastes like summer to me, and i would love to know if there are places to find it in NYC.

Rogue hazelnut brown nectar from oregon!

Coffee Haus Porter, from Berkshire Brewing Co. The world's two greatest beverages in one!

Raspberry Tart from New Glarus Brewing Companty in Wisconsin.

yazoo from nashville, tn!

Fat Tire from New Belgium!

Victory Hop Devil, from PA.

Cascazilla, by Ithaca Beer. It is so hoppy and delicious, and I am so drunk when I drink it.

Agreed with moniyer. Actually, anything from Goose Island really, it's so hard to choose. I remember their oatmeal stout being really intense.

I go home to visit my folks a couple of times a year, and they always treat me to some Rogue Dead Guy, but this past Christmas, they didn't have it at the only place in my folk's small town that usually carry it. What they did have was Rogue Santa's Private Reserve Ale (http://www.rogue.com/beers/santas-private-reserve.php) which was fantastic, and really perfect for the winter. Not quite as smooth as the Dead Guy, but had some nice bite and a little extra hop to it. Fortunately, it looked like I was the only person in my town that liked it, as I was able to clean them out of their limited supply on my own (with a little help from my pops and the occasional old friend who stopped by) in my week and a half Christmas vacation. It was a treat, a nice one, to have something different but familiar at the holidays, which is basically what each holiday season is as we get older. Different, but familiar. A benchmark on a well trodden path. Rogue makes beer that you can always feel at ease drinking, even if it surprises you.

Does Abita Amber from Abita Springs, LA count? If not, Leaderboard Lager from Top of the Hill, Chapel Hill, NC

PS - Rogue is based in Newport, Oregon.

i'm a big fan of fisherman's navigator (gloucester, mass).

Apricot Wheat from Ithaca Beer

Pretty much anything from Smuttynose (especially the Brown Dog Ale), out of Portsmouth, NH

Blue point Hoptical Illusion, not because its a Blue Point contest. I live a bout 10 mins away and their beer is great. Also try their Toasted Lagar and Summer Ale!

I'm in love with the 90 minute IPA from Dogfishhead from Delaware. I also really like Allagash White.

Left Hand Milk Stout from Colorado. Absolutely my favorite single beer. If I'm going to go with favorite BREWERY, its going to have to be Rogue out of Oregon.

I like Saranac Lager recently. And it's a couple bucks cheaper than comparable choices, at least at my grocery.

Dogfishhead 90 minute IPA. My favorite everyday beer is Hoptical Illusion.

Tie Cricket hill's Jersey Summer Breakfast Ale and Blue Point's Rasta Far Rye Ale

Arrogant Bastard Ale, Stone Brewing Company, San Diego. Has a great hoppy taste without being overwhelming. A little darker than an ipa, and completely delicious!

Arrogant Bastard Ale (Oaked) from Stone Brewing Company. The same Arrogant taste with a hint of oak flavor... Delicious. Are you worthy?!?

Dogfish Head Aprihop! It's the perfect blend of apricots and hops - after a day at the beach (or any time really), it's simply divine.

Dogfish Head Fort. Oh so good....

I'm going to have to say Dogfish Head's Raison D'Etre (Reason to Be) from the Great First State of Delaware. Go Blue Hens!!

I'd have to say Blue Point's Hoptical Illusion is the best and how do I know this? I have designatedly driven enough beer drinkers home from enough microbreweries to have heard it all! The happiest comments all are for this one! Keep up the great work!

I'm a Texas expat, so I'm going to have to say Shiner, even though I'm not sure if it counts. I spend a lot of time upstate, so I'm also a big fan of Saranac's lager.

Perkuno's Hammer Imperial Porter from Heavyweight Brewing Co.of Ocean City, NJ. I believe it's no longer being brewed, which is unfortunate because it made me feel as aggresively irresistible as Jack Kennedy's phallus.

My favorite is the Dead Guy by Rogue...Always works for me

Saranac Pale Ale or Yuengling Lager. Whatever is on sale at the local grocery between the two.
