- Samples of chocolate, pistachio, and licorice gelato, and an actual scoop of hazelnut, at the soft opening of Piattini Ristorante [Eating in Translation]
- Mario's Restaurant on Arthur Avenue is "right up there with Pepe's and Totonno's...a crust that can only be described as perfect, nice chunks of crushed tomatoes in the sauce, high-quality cheese" [I think this world is perfect]
- The Half-n-Half at Po' Boy Rich: "a traditional po' boy sandwich on crisp, buttered French bread, graced side-by-side with lightly fried, succulent jumbo shrimp and equally fine fried oysters, slathered in a creamy kick of remoulade sauce" [Vittles Vamp]
- A "donut" at Yura & Company is more like a cinnamon puff in the form of a mini muffin, but whatever it's called, it's good [cherrypatter]
