Another New Street Cart Launching Soon: Schnitzel & Things
"I know this whole truck thing is becoming quite big, but we've been thinking about doing this for a while now," Oleg Voss, a former Vienna-based investment banker said. His new venture Schnitzel & Things—he's keeping his options open in case he needs to add more, well, things, and stuff, to the menu—will roll out in a few weeks. There's a serious lack of breaded meat cutlets on the streets, and Austrian food in general, but Voss and his partner, a former co-owner of Sorrel in Prospect Heights, are out to change that. "Who knows, maybe this new Bruno Movie will bring some attention to Austria," Voss said.
The plan is to serve the midtown lunch crowd the first half of the week, the downtown crowd the other half, and on weekends, hit up Brooklyn neighborhoods. Voss is a Brooklynite so he won't let the borough down.
So what are these things, hmm? "I also really love things, and really can't live without 'em!" Voss responded. They will include rotating soups, Austrian potato salad, braised kraut, pesto mayo, cranberry sauce, potentially fries, vanilla bean panna cotta, and more.
