'Develop Your Nose: Learn to Recognize and Describe Wine Aromas' at ICE
Monday, June 15, 7 to 9 p.m., $95
They say that 90% of taste is smell. David Lombardo of Landmarc and Ditch Plains will explore this concept in wine tasting, using foods like green peppers, grapefruits, kiwis, and coffee to distinguish aromas in eight different wines.

'Open House and Cuppings' at New Counter Culture Center
Thursday, June 18, 7 to 9 p.m.; Friday, June 19, noon, both free
North Carolina-based Counter Culture Coffee will open a new training center in New York City with a focus on teaching food professionals and normal ol' coffee enthusiasts about the roasting and drinking process. The center will celebrate with an open house on Thursday, June 18, and its first weekly "cupping" on Friday.

'New York Style Thin Crust Pizza' at ICE
