Some Corn Dogs Still Available at Shake Shack UWS Today

The Upper West Side Shake Shack sold corn dogs yesterday for Memorial Day, but only have a few left today. They won't appear on the menu again until July 4, and other holiday weekends this summer. I love the idea of corn dogs much more in theory than reality, so I really didn't know what to expect when I sidled up to the cashier yesterday and ordered one ($4.50) with a side of vanilla frozen custard with vanilla-poached rhubarb, my idea of the ideal corn dog chaser. But I have to say that the Shack Shack corn dog was exemplary.

The batter was crisp, crunchy, and a deep golden brown. The dog itself was of the standard Shake Shack Vienna all-beef variety, which means it was definitely a few notches up from standard corn dog dogs. Best of all, the batter-to-dog ratio was just about perfect, as you can see from the photos. And the Rick's Picks corn relish made dipping the corn dog a must.
