First Look at CupcakeStop, NYC's New Cupcake Truck

CupcakeStop previewed their mobile cupcakery on Friday, starting in Chelsea on 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenue, then moving to 14th Street between Union Square West and 5th Avenue where they sold-out early for the night (all 650 of them).

Red velvet
They had three flavors: red velvet, Oreo, and triple chocolate. Taste report? I mean, they're cupcakes. Just good simple cupcakes. Moist, not sickeningly sweet, and the frosting wasn't too heavy or anything.

Triple chocolate
When they officially launch this Wednesday, June 3, the menu will be bigger, plus each month they take suggestions. If your flavor gets picked, you get 100 free cupcakes, and apparently they already have 500 suggestions for this month. Eventually, they also want to sell old-fashioned banana pudding, coffee, and tea.

Oreo
The big ones are $2 and the minis are $1.

What I want to know is where are these mobile bakeries (Cupcake Stop, The Treats Truck, The Dessert Truck) doing the baking? Is it in the truck? Do they rent space from a commercial kitchen?
Inquiring minds wanna know!!!

maybe this has already been covered, but is there a website that maps all NYC food trucks and their location(s) day by day?

@DietCokeGal: The Dessert Truck bakes everything at a commercial kitchen in midtown. The truck is equipped with a freezer, two fridges, two ovens and three sinks, where the desserts are finished. Similar deal with the Treats Truck, except the commercial kitchen is in Brooklyn.

i hate cupcakes. this trend is useless to me. i would be happiest if there was a trend of, say, frozen yogurt trucks. or waffle trucks. or really delicious polenta--real polenta, cooked for more than three hours-- trucks.
