Sugar Rush: A Peek Inside the Reopened Chocolate Bar

We dipped into Alison Nelson's Chocolate Bar, which opened yesterday. The new West Village location is directly across the street from the former shop, only this one is roomier and more inviting.

The Chocolate Bar's classic pastries and sweets are still there, including the chocolate chip cookies. After the jump, close-ups of all the other goodies.

Brownies.

Rice Krispie bars—chocolate-coated, of course!

A completely new line of sweets made by pastry chef Gustaf Mabrouk, formerly of Aureole, which included a collection of chocolate truffles.

And what might be the most adorable Mallomars in town.

And because we shouldn't be limited to liquid chocolate during winter months, the hot chocolate comes iced (with whipped cream) for the summer to come.

Oh! And don't forget bites from the atomic collection. The Elvis, pictured here, is a dark chocolate shell harboring homemade banana marshmallows and crunchy peanut butter. Congrats to Alison and welcome back to the neighborhood!

This is just torture for someone living on the other side of the country! And this is random, but after staring at the atomic chocolates they started looking like screaming faces.

The address for Chocolate Bar in this post is different from the address on their web site.

Hope they are still making the peanut butter and jelly atomics.

I am all over those Mallomars! (Perhaps with an egg cream...)

Stopped in yesterday and had a dark chocolate dipped salt pretzel stick.

Now all they have to do is stock up on those dark chocolate bars with the nuts and citron and I will be all set.

@bgelldawg: Updated address! Thanks.
