May Day Dinner on the Farm
Friday, May 1, 6 p.m.
Stroll around the great outdoors at Queens County Farm Museum and enjoy a five-course meal featuring lamb, spring vegetables, and local wine. The event is organized by Hapa Kitchen, a supper club created by Akiko Moorman and Cathy Erway of Not Eating Out in New York. Tickets are sold-out, but a reminder to the lucky ones who scored spots! Brooklyn Food Conference
Saturday, May 1, 9 a.m. kick-off parade to 7 p.m. closing dinner
A free all-day conference devoted to lectures on school lunch policy, the rise in diabetes, food co-ops, new-age farmers, farmers' markets, food stamps, and other key policy issues (including demos for kids and teens). Hot Dog Hootenanny

Whatever you call it, the wiener is one of the world's best loved foods and a true example of American culinary inspiration.
