Win FastPass Tickets to Big Apple Barbecue Block Party

20090318-babp.jpgTickets are currently on sale for this year's Big Apple Barbecue Block Party on June 13 and 14. The annual fest brings together 'cuemasters from around the country who descend on New York's Madison Square Park to flip meats for the masses.

As experienced attendees know, the FastPass is the way to go. It gives you and one guest access to special express lines at all of the pit masters, and this year, you two don't have to wait in line together. Both FastPassers can run around as they please! The two new grillers to check out: Patrick Martin of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in Nolensville, Tennessee, and Drew Robinson of Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q in Birmingham, Alabama.

Passes are available for $100 online here, but if you want to take a chance first, we are giving away two pairs of FastPasses—and you're really gonna have to earn them first. Barbecue lover is one thing, but we want barbecue poet (also, you have to be in New York City on June 13 or 14 to qualify).

To enter to win, compose a barbecue-themed haiku. The best one, as determined by the Serious Eats staff, will win. (Note that last year's assignment was a limerick; do not confuse the two!)

You may submit a comment on this entry until Friday, March 27 at 3 p.m. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply. Winner will be posted in the comments section of this post as well as on the Serious Eats Contest Winners Page.

Where is my bathroom fast pass
They need one of these!

Smoke pits filled with sultry 'cue
Bring on the meat sweats.

If I were a grill
I'll turn your baby back ribs
finger lickin' good.

Err, that should have been I'd not I'll, sorry!

Marinades and rubs
Prodigious sights, sounds, and smells
It's 'cue ambrosia

One week to summer
Sweaty pigs eat sweaty pigs
Recession be damned

your special sauce most of all —
that stain is lipstick.

My girlfriend is dead
Broke, if I win this she will
Say, "This date's on me"

I am from the Bay
We have no B-B-Q there
I would like to learn.

Sauce on my face, no
one will kiss me, that's why ribs
are love of my life

If meat is murder
I must seek its due process
Through my intestines
