Food-Themed Cake for Rachael Ray from Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken

This morning on Good Morning America, Rachael Ray celebrated her 500th episode with this intense food-themed cake made by Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey. Owner Buddy Valastro's elaborate cakes have appeared in numerous magazines and television shows, and he just won Food Network's Battle of the Brides cake challenge. If you can't make it to Hoboken, you'll soon be able to see more of the bakery in TLC's upcoming reality show, Cake Boss, on April 19.

I got some photos of the cake pre-unveiling from my friend Christine Campanelli who works at Carlo's Bake Shop and helped design the cake. She said that they got the order for the cake last week and made the cake pieces over a few days. About seven people worked on sculpting the different parts out of fondant and modeling chocolate. After Buddy iced and stacked the main pieces together, they added the sculpted parts, words, and smaller details. See a larger photo of the cake after the jump.

WoW! That is really some cake. I love the spaghetti overflowing down the front - I wonder if it tastes as good as it looks!

This cake is amazing!! It reminds me of cakes that they make on the show ace of cakes.

They made an enormous food-themed cake for Rachael Ray's 500th episode, and not even one sandwich can be found among the tiers of faux edibles? Maybe the people who made this cake have only seen the handful episodes in which she actually doesn't make a sandwich.

Anyway, I don't just want to be mean. It is a pretty amazing piece they put together.

Wow. You always hope these things actually taste good though.
After all...it is cake!

OMG the things that come from Carlo's are freaking the best stuff ever. The bread is amazing and the cake is good. There is nothing at Carlo's that is not the best you ever had. When I got married the sweet table came from Carlo's. You know I am picky.

wow i used to walk by this place all the time on the way to work, their window displays are amazing. I told myself if (andwhenever )i get married or any special occasion comes along i'd go to carlo's. Its about time I hear more about them, I always recommend them to friends who have special occasions.

We got out wedding cake from Carlo's. Buddy is great to work with and their cakes taste as good as they look. Truly amazing stuff!

Eh don't mean to be a downer, its quite a work of art, but its not a cake. I'm kind of tired of the whole ace of cakes thing. They should just call it fondat sculpting. Half of it is either inedible or at the very least unappetizing. Might as well use playdo.

I totally agree @bobbob, give me a really delicious cake over all the fancy fondant any day. I've had a few cakes from Carlo's, including my birthday cake last year, and I have never been that impressed.

Sure they looked pretty but they didn't taste all the great. The canolis there though, are to die for.

Oh, awesome another cakes show. Who the ef cares?

I go to Carlos whenever I have the chance and thats quite often since I live in Jersey City =) There are 2 thing I will say every one must try from there. 1. The Lobster Tails which they only make on weekends and 2. Their Ice Box Cheese cake which they mainly make for all holidays which is out of thie world !!!!! Always a line on holidays but in my eyes well worth it.
