It's-It Ice Cream Sandwiches at the Google Cafeteria

20090319-itsit.jpg

Confirmed: The Googleplex in Chelsea still stocks It's-It ice cream sandwiches in a freezer near the salad bar. The institutionalized Bay Area dessert is, as far as I know, impossible to find for retail sale outside of the West Coast.

It's-It Education for New Yorkers: Two oatmeal cookies sandwiching vanilla ice cream, all dipped in chocolate.

But the Googlers on this coast don't seem to understand them. Nobody was eating them at the cafeteria today. Nobody even seemed to notice. These people have no idea how lucky they have it!

Good News: If you don't know anyone who works at Google, you can order cases of It's-Its to be overnighted to New York.

Bad News: A $19 case requires a $67 shipping fee, putting you at $86.

They're listed as bar snacks at Pacific Standard in Park Slope (a bar that embraces all things California). I've never seen anyone order them though, so I can't verify that they actually keep them in stock. It's worth a try, though.

Every time I've been to Pacific Standard and asked about the It's-It, the only flavor they have is mint. It's fine, although often a little smushed. I don't know if it's because other flavors sell faster, or if the mint ones are cheaper, but I'm always disappointed since mint ice cream is not one of my favorites.

If anyone works for Google in NY I am willing to negotiate.
