New Yankee Stadium's High-End Food Options

OK, I may have been a little harsh on the food options at the new Yankee Stadium yesterday. Looks like they will have some pretty swank options. Says the New York Times:

The folks in the 4,000 or so premium seats at the new Yankee Stadium — which will costs as much as $2,500 — will get a bit more than the average fan.

They’ll have separate restaurants and dining areas for their exclusive enjoyment and the food will be prepared at open cooking stations run, from time to time, by Masaharu Morimoto, April Bloomfield of the Spotted Pig and chefs from Le Cirque.

Even MORE reason to harsh on them. I'm a Yankees fan but would much rather have the Shake Shack and Bluesmoke options. You're looking at a minimum $500 ticket, plus whatever this food is going to cost? That's insane.

i hope attendance is way down for the mets and yankees after the novelty of the new parks wears off. their new ticket pricing is ludicrous and no amount of fancy food will change that..too bad i had to help them pay for this crap with my tax dollars.

in any case, i prefer ballpark food when i'm at the ballpark anyway so this is all moot for me. made even more moot by the fact that i will be traveling to check out some other parks this year instead of going to yankee or shea. the difference in ticket prices will subsidize most of the cost of travel and i will be able to explore new cities to boot.

I remember when my Dad would take me to a ball game and a box seat was 20 dollars. Mind you this was in the late 80's and early 90's, but wow, America's past time sure has changed. My boyfriend and I are both employed and it is expensive for us to go out to a game, let alone if there were kids involved. The food options at Shea sound great, but I bet you they bang the fans $9 for a cone of Belgian fries on top of what the ticket costs. Highway robbery. I will go to one game to see the new stadium, but it is disheartening, to say the least.
