Seriously Delicious Super Bowl Party Giveaway: New York Exclusive La Frieda Black Label Burgers

20090123-blacklabel.jpg

A Black Label burger at City Burger in Manhattan.

We're already giving away five pounds of the storied La Freida's Black Label burgers on Serious Eats, but here's an exclusive chance just for New Yorkers to score some. The folks at Pat La Freida want to specially truck over the aged prime beef cuts to your door (which wouldn't exactly work for residents in the rest of the country).

To enter to win this New York-exclusive Seriously Delicious Super Bowl Party Giveaway, leave your best hamburger limerick here as a comment. A panel of judges/wordsmiths at Serious Eats HQ will select the winner.

Contest will end and comments will close at 3 p.m. ET, Wednesday, January 28, 2009. One entry per community member. Winners are limited to residents of the continental U.S. Standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

I've had the best burgers this world's ever seen,
the secret is to keep it 85/15...
I'll pass on the chips, the dips and that Triscuit,
just pass me that patty made of sirloin and brisket.

The new label in town known as "Black"
With a taste as addictive as crack
Shall make you say hey!
"I will eat three today"
And then skip your next trip to Shake Shack.

There once was a little cow
Who, upon birth, took a vow
To make his meat supreme
So he could accomplish his dream
To become prime Shake Shack chow!

There was a burger so fine,
It didn't need any red wine,
La Frieda's black label,
Will be on my table,
My buddies and I will soon dine.

There is a man in New York named Pat,
The black label blend never falls flat

Brisket, short-rib, and skirt
Dry-aged cut he won’t blurt

With seventy-thirty meat-to-fat

City Burger was not very great
It got to the burger scene quite late
How would it fix this
And achieve burger bliss?
La Frieda Black Label on your plate!

Oh, these fine burgers from New York City,
Very succulent and looking pretty.

Who would have thought
They can be bought

And delivered in time for my party?

There once was a man named La Frieda.
For his trade he's not well-loved by PETA.
But his burgers sublime
have inspired this rhyme,
and bedazzled this Serious Eater.

There once was a meat eater named Caro
Oh she would eat any part of the cow even the marrow
She saw this contest
and won't take a rest
until those burgers are in her refrigeatow (okay sue me)

As a Jets fan it's always the same
My team cannot win the big game
To make the day sweet
I must grill up some meat
That glorifies the LaFreida name

If you give me a hamburger today,
I will surley pay you back on Tuesday,
but if that burger is not black label,
to think you get paid back is a fable,
So make mine rare with a pickle to go,
And then wipe with 5 napkins my elbow.

if you need something new on your table
and to digest tofu you're not able
it's not veggies or grain
and your shirt it might stain
a burger - lafreida black label

A Black Label burger's a treat
No other burger I'd rather eat
Just one bite and you're sure
The ingredients are pure
Cause at La Frieda's "nobody beats our meat"

I enjoy my meat between buns.
It is ever so delicious and fun.
For plump and juicy
is the best, don't you see?
I'm talking about hamburgers, son.

The burger is simple perfection
Better than any confection
With bread, meat, and mayo
What else can I say, yo?!
The ultimate taste bud connection.

There once was a woman named Kate
And burgers were all that she ate
On burgers she'd thrive
"Beef keeps me alive!"
She'd shout as she wiped clean her plate.

Just give me some bread with some meat
That is all that I want to eat
A large slice of cheese
And ketchup if you please
Cooked medium-rare it's complete!

Oh Juicy, salty, delicious meat
Winning this would be totally sweet
I might share with friends
I might hoard it all
Still, my super bowl would be complete

Congrats to bjornsen. Winner has been notified by email and will also appear on our Contest Winners page. Thanks to everyone who entered a burger limerick!
