Pork-Filled Fish Balls from Sheng Wang

In addition to tangyuan, my recent group meal at Sheng Wang also included beef noodle soup featuring fresh hand pulled noodles. I didn't think it was as good as the version I had from Lam Zhou, which had more flavorful broth and tender beef, but I liked that I could add a crispy, fried egg for only 50¢.

I was a bigger fan of the hefty Fuzhou-style fish balls filled with ground pork. Basically, it's a pork meatball stuffed inside a fish ball. Bite through the meaty, sproingy, fish ball exterior and you're rewarded with a juicy, porky center. I like the bouncy texture of the fish ball, which comes from the meat being pounded instead of ground.
