In Videos: Mark Bittman On His New Book, 'Food Matters'

Cooking Up a Story (or CUpS), a blog devoted to agricultural news and newsmakers, sat down with Mark Bittman to chat about his latest book, Food Matters, which hit shelves last month. The Minimalist columnist for the New York Times is still pushing minimalism in this book. "I don't really know how to do complicated recipes...it's counter to what I believe." To him, uncomplicated isn't synonymous with Easy Mac, but with a few, good ingredients. One interview highlight: when Bittman says "my recipes are legit" at 2:42.

I love Bittman's philosophy & recipes! After watching Spain: On the Road Again, I think I'm developing a crush on him, too.

I can't stand this guy. He is derivative, boring, and rude. He lacks originality of thought, but not opinion and ego. A supreme complainer with a "one-better," always. His books are pure hubris. Nobody nobody sent, indeed.

I love Bittman and Food Matters is right on the money with it's message. Some people will respond to the ecological/environmental message and others to the health/weight message. But more plants, less meat is on target.
