- Big-ass sandwiches from Prime Meats in Park Slope. The "Sal and Mel special" has sopressata, moradella, prociutto, mozerella, and roasted pepper. "There's something really great about buying a foot long sandwich, and saving half of the sandwich for later." [Food in Mouth]
- Bagels from Hot Bialys in Queens—not the large doughy orbs many New Yorkers have come to think of, incorrectly, as "good bagels." [Salty/Sweet/Savory]
- Pickled vegetables, fish soup, chicken strogonoff, and fatty "Uzbek style" lamb from Wall Street Bath & Spa 88. [Eating in Translation]
- Yakitori and lunch bentos from Aburiya Kinnosuke. [SE:NY Talk]
