New Design Models for Red Hook Ball Field Vendors

As mentioned earlier this week, the Architecture for Humanity New York is trying to save the future of the Red Hook ball field vendors by hosting "an open call for ideas" competition.
The latest update: five design entries were selected, and the creators behind them will begin collaborating with AFHny, the Red Hook vendors, and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation at the start of 2009. Read more about the designs after the jump.
"Double Sided" design
All the designs look smart, innovative, and inspired. "Food Fence" uses repurposed and recycled materials to create an open structure, malleable over time. "Bleachers" makes bleachers out of the sides of food stalls. "Food Coloring" accentuates the vendor's hometown flag through vibrant color-coded distinctions. "Double Sided" has one side open to the street, one to the park. "New Vendor Kiosk" has movable parts that double as benches and slides, creating a meet-up venue for the Red Hook community during the ball field off-season.
Soon, the huaraches, barbacoa tacos, and grilled corn will have a new home!
