Every Wednesday we post delicious educational opportunities in New York for the approaching weekend and the following week. All classes listed still have openings, but if you hear otherwise, please let us know.

While many culinary schools and centers are taking a break for the season, we're searching high and low to find classes with available spots. Here's a few options for the next week to get you in the holiday spirit; in the meantime, eat, drink, and celebrate!
'Cooking Book Club' at ICE
Sunday, December 21, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, $105
Melanie Underwood leads a night of cooking based on The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World' Most Expensive Bottle of Wine by Benjamin Wallace. The meal is cooked over a discussion of the book, and is heavily influenced by the food and culture of Paris. You'll be cooking: bacon & gruyère tart, French onion soup, cassoulet, crispy duck breasts with cranberry sauce, potato galette, leek gratin, crepes with an orange sauce, and pear tart tatin. 'Crafting a Celebratory Cocktail' at Whole Foods Bowery
Monday, December 22, 7 to 8:30 p.m., $15
This demo and tasting is led by Culinary Center Director Christine Carroll. She'll be discussing cocktail mixers, including syrups, fresh juices, and purees. While the tasting will not include alcohol, mixers to sample include mint julep, pisco sour, bellini, and homemade eggnog.

'Holiday Cookie Design' at ICE
Tuesday, December 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, $125
Get some last minute cookie ideas from Toba Garrett, who teaches the very popular Cookie Design classes at ICE. In the kitchen you'll be using holiday cookie cutters, holiday colors, and using other seasonal decorative treats!
