12-Year Old Food Critic Gets a Movie Deal

20081205-film.pngRemember David Fishman, the 12-year old kid from the Upper West Side who got written up in the New York Times for being an aspiring food critic? Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights to the story to be adapted as as movie or for TV.

Wow. A movie about a spoiled rich kid. Sign me up...

Ditto on the ugh, sloppy. UGH.

The out-on-the-town version of Home Alone? The foodie version of Doogie Howser?

I just don't get how a precocious kid (and one who is probably too overconfident and sure of himself and overindulged, but don't let me get too judgemental here) who goes out for dinner carrying a notebook is interesting enough to become a movie.

Ugh ugh.

Aww c'mon guys. I bet he's really a self-possessed, cool little kid. If handled well, I think it could be a great film. I want Woody Allen to direct!

I have a feeling its going to be like some sort of horrible cross between No Reservations and Rushmore.

But what would the story be? I mean, I enjoyed the story when it came out, but that was it -- a five-minute story newspaper story. How in the world is this going to be spun out into two hours?

to Twist on Oliver......"No more please sir"

I can see this being the next big box-office hit---NOT!!

The story was set up. The same reporter quoted his mother in a another article of hers.
