City Bakery Happy Hour Menu

20081205-citybakery.jpgAs promised yesterday, we got the lowdown on the City Bakery happy hour menu, which started today at 4 p.m.

The menu includes $4 items (Old Bay butter popcorn, deviled eggs, and pimento-horseradish cheese with fried bread heels), $5 items (Benton's bacon and chocolate sandwich), and the heartier $10 foods (pig in a croissant blanket, grilled pawlet cheese & Benton's bacon sandwich, Heritage turkey meatloaf sandwich, deflation chicken bones, and beer-braised Heritage pork ribs). We're pretty excited about this bacon-chocolate sandwich business.

Finally, acceptance! Once, while brunching at Diner in Williamsburg, I ordered their chocolate sandwich with a side of bacon. (Not a usual combo for me, but a girl's gotta have what a girl's gotta have.) The waiter made some kind of disapproving noise when he took my order, made a disbelieving noise when he delivered my meal, and kept looking over and laughing while I ate it!

Bacon and chocolate is an awesome combo.
