Dousoeur de Paris, a New French Patisserie in Hell's Kitchen

Editor's note: Every afternoon we like to post a short Sugar Rush to end your day. Think of it as the dessert to your daily blog reading. —Zach

"This hardcore French patisserie just opened up on 10th Ave. and 46th Street," Zach instant messaged me. "They have a macaron Christmas tree in the front window."

Hardcore French patisserie with a macaron tree? Zach, you said the magic words. He sent me this photo as proof of the macaron tree's existence and to make me wimper with macaron lust. Even though the macarons on the tree look a bit battered, I assume the fresh macarons are more photogenic. Unfortunately, their macarons are only available by special order at the moment, but there are plenty of other goodies in their patisserie. Check out this interior shot after the jump.

Can't wait to read a review!

do they really spell their name that way? the french word for a sweet shop is douceur.

just looked carefully at the photo of the window, and your spelling is not a typo. i wonder why they spell it that way? c'est vraiment bizarre!

soeur means sister so it looks like a play on words like "sweet sister"--sorta cute. much sweeter when they start selling macarons though...

Sorry, I still can't get over the existence of a French patisserie in Hell's Kitchen. My first apartment was there back in 1978, and let's just say it wouldn't have been an approporiate place for a French patisserie. I'm having a little cognitive dissonance, here.

i thought of the sister thing too, but it's just so wrong... "du" means "of the" but it's masculine.

i think i'm too interested in correctness.

The neighborhood has changed drastically since 1978. My apartment is right near this place and I have been curious about it, but wasn't quite sure exactly what was going on inside of there, until I read this. I'll check it out and report back!

The patisserie is run by two sisters.

I had their Macarons! They were everything I hoped they would be! I want to try the hazelnut next. I had raspberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Vanilla were the best. Pricey though! $23 for 9.
