Win a Pair of Tickets to the Sold Out 'Tales of Tofu'
Whatever your thoughts on bean curd are, there is no disputing that fresh made tofu is far superior to the stuff you buy in the grocery store. So to celebrate truly sublime tofu, En Japanese Brasserie is hosting "Tales of Tofu" this Sunday afternoon (8/26) at 2 p.m. Chef Yasuhiro Honma will show you how to make your own tofu at home, teach you how to make that tofu into delicious homecooked dishes, and share other tofu stories. The event will be moderated by journalist Harris Salat, who’s written about Japanese cuisine for Gourmet, Saveur and the NY Times, and maintains the blog, The Japanese Food Report.
The $85 tickets are all sold out, but we have one pair to give away to one lucky Serious Eater—and what better way to do it than with another of our famous haiku contests. (What can we say? We're addicted to poems.) Just post your tofu-themed haiku in the comments and you'll be entered to win.
The best submitted haiku as deemed by the Serious Eats staff will be chosen as the winner. Contest will end and comments will close at noon ET, Friday, October 24, 2008. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

i can't enter the contest because i'll be out of town this weekend, but this post inspired me to some bad haiku writing on the train about my experiences working in the 'tofu hut' at twin oaks community, and i thought i should subject the internets to them.
dirty hippies toil
in the tofu factory
they haul in the beans
soaked, boiled, and spun
curdled, pressed, and vacuum sealed
so much okara!
what to do with it
odorous soybean fiber?
feed it to the cows.
no, not the heifers!
soy will screw up their hormones
no more calves or milk
only to the steers
who love to eat okara
fat, tender beef (mmmm...)
twin oaks makes hammocks
leisure products for the rich
tofu is better
not made of plastic
organic, compostable
build communes with soy!
