Based on this account from the scene (complete with side by side trucks ready to do battle) it appears as if the Dessert Truck's Food Network thing being taped in Union Square today from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. is indeed a Throwdown with Bobby Flay. Although we're hearing now that the second truck was actually a Red Hook ball field vendor truck, and it has left the park. Perhaps it was supposed to be some kind of decoy? Kind of funny that it just served to increase the Throwdown speculation. Based on intel gathered by Life Vicarious, we're still convinced it's a Throwdown. It's been confirmed. Bobby Flay has entered the park. Let the Throwdown begin. Our man Gordon Mark is on the scene now as part of the audience, and will have a full report tomorrow morning (barring any serious non-disclosure agreement he will be forced to sign!)
You can (hopefully) congratulate the Dessert Truck tonight after 8 p.m. at their normal nighttime spot on 3rd Avenue and St. Marks, or tomorrow in Midtown on 52nd Street and Park Avenue.
