25th Anniversary Oyster Festival
Now through Sunday, October 19
One of the East Coast's largest annual waterfront festivals, Long Island's Oyster Festival will be serving up stews and gumbos, and the best of the sea's bounty: oysters, clams, and shrimp. Live music, fireworks, boat races, pirates, and thrill rides offer fun for all ages. 2008 Vendy Awards
Saturday, October 18, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Nine finalists offering the best of New York's street food will compete in sweet and savory categories at the fourth annual Vendy Awards. Tax-deductible tickets are $80 in advance, $100 at the door, and the price includes food from all the vendors. Not really NYC but The Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay(Long Island) is running Sat & Sun and it's accessible by LIRR.
