Were you thinking of entering our Pumpkin Carving Contest but figured your carving skills were scarier than Halloween itself? It seems Jack must indeed be both nimble and quick to carve the perfect jack-o'-lantern.
But really, pumpkin-carving is a taught skill, and just in time for Halloween, 540 Park's pumpkin pro, chef Andrew Rubin, will turn the sidewalk around the Loews Regency Hotel on 61st Street and Park Avenue into a spooky pumpkin-carving master class this Wednesday, October 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. (rain date: October 30, 2 to 4 p.m.)
The first 50 children to arrive walk away with free pumpkins they can then turn in to haunting, twinkling masterpieces. Hot cider and cookies will make pumpkin school even sweeter.
