Talk to Me: Are There Any Good Beignets in NYC?

Midtown Lunch got us very excited with their post titled "Cafe du Monde is Coming to New York City" this morning. Turns out it is just another Cafe Metro type deli that decided to call themselves Cafe Du Monde (and it's beyond us why). What's even more infuriating is that Zach is the editor of Serious Eats New York and didn't even bother warning us.
Anybody who has ever had a beignet at the real Cafe du Monde in New Orleans knows the joy they bring, and now that we've been teased, we're craving some hot fried dough action. Anybody know of a good beignet in the city? To make up for his cruel trick, Zach started a Talk topic, so if you have a suggestion you can post it there.

Zeppole is italian for Beignet :) The size might be a bit different but to my knowledge its still fried dough covered in powered sugar. Hit up a good pizza place or better yet find an italian street cart during a festival. You can usually find them there.
