Weekend Excursion: Labor Day with a Side of Renaissance Faire Turkey Legs

Photograph from Jonathan Lehrfeld on Flickr.
When a friend asked me if I was interested in a Renaissance Faire excursion this weekend, my immediate reaction was pure giddiness. Finally, I can check Drench a Wench, jousting, and turkey legs off my life list. Okay, mostly I just cared about the turkey legs. Big, baseball bat-sized, greasy turkey legs. Though I will pay my respect to the labor movement this weekend at a rooftop barbecue, my real focus will be honoring Vikings, Queen Elizabeth I, and elves. The faire is every Saturday and Sunday (from 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) until September 21, and in this case, Labor Day Monday too! Advance tickets are $16.75 for adults and $7.50 for kids under 13 (adults discounted to $10 on Monday). Here are driving directions to the faire site in Tuxedo, New York, or the bus directions from Port Authority.
