Serious Eats Meet-Up: Sunday July 27 at the Red Hook Ball Fields
Let's Get to Know Each Other Over Huaraches and Pupusas

As you may know, the Red Hook ball field vendors are back, and we thought this weekend would be a great time for a Serious Eats eating expedition and meet-up. This Sunday, July 27, at 12:30 p.m., join Ed Levine and the Serious Eats gang at the ball fields in Red Hook, Brooklyn, for some pupusas, huaraches, soccer tacos, ceviche, elote, and more. It's the perfect place for a gathering of serious eaters. And you'll be helping the vendors pay off the debts they racked up bringing their operation up to code.

Let's meet at 12:30 p.m. just inside the soccer grounds at the southeast corner of Bay and Clinton streets (see map, above). You can sign up to receive the most up-to-date information on our Meetup.com page. Need more information about the ball fields? Check out the Serious Eats Red Hook Vendors Guide.

as a fellow food vendor i am so happy to hear that these vendors are back in business..... it just hurts to see such hard-working, respectful people bearing the brunt of the red tape parade that goes on in our society.
the real food criminals are the mega agri-businesses and the makers of mass produced facsimile food that so much of the general population has come to know as "food".
what is at stake here is the possible extinction of the process of people lovingly preparing foods for other people. the way it's been done for thousands and thousands of years. the way food is produced all over the world in markets and bazaars -- people making food for people. this practice is really becoming a novelty. let alone a lost art.
i'm sure some mega-mass producer will copy some of the beautiful
foods being made by these vendors and soul-less versions will soon be appearing on menu's at ruby tuesdays or some other food factory chain.
what a screwed up society we live in.

I plan on coming to support the vendors and grab some delicious food. I'll be representing Always Eating (http://always-eating.blogspot.com/), looking forward to it.

Awww, you suck... the Mets are playing at home, which means I'll be in Shea, root-root-rooting for the home team... would have loved to come though, I hope this is a regular thing :)

PS I wonder if you realize the alt-text for the photo above reads "redhookers".

@feisty: Yes. I was aware of that when naming the photo for this post. ;) Didn't think many people paid attn to photo names, but sometimes I do put little jokes in them.

Sweet. I'll try to make it out if it's not pouring. I loves me a huarache on a sunny summer day...
