New York Named One of America's Best Barbecue Cities
Roadfood's Jane and Michael Stern have put together a list on Concierge.com of the 12 best American Cities for Barbecue, and New York City, long considered a barbecue wasteland, actually made the cut. Too bad it had nothing to do with the significant strides we've made on the 'cue front, and everything to do with Churrascaria Plataforma in Midtown West. Calling a Brazilian meat buffet barbecue is a stretch, but we'll take the praise any way we can get it. [via Eater]

BS. New York still sucks for 'cue.

I guess it's all what you consider barbecue. I definitely consider churrasco to be barbecue.

@ Adam - while I agree that there are many better places in the country for good BBQ, you have to admit NYC has made some pretty significant strides in the past few years. Dry rub ribs at Daisy May's, the brisket at Hill Country, and I've been hearing some good things about Fette Sau, although I haven't been. Add that to the old standbys... and you've got a pretty decent BBQ city.

What a joke. BBQ and New York is like saying Lobsters and Montana, or Mexican Food and Vermont. Tennessee is still the King of pork and Texas is the King of Beef. New York is the definitely the King of FU-FU Food; what ever is trendy with small portions and HUGE prices. Not to mention the arrogant service. Oh well...
